Can Covid19 Still Spread After Vaccination?

Human viruses, including Coronavirus have been around for centuries, and new viruses will continue to emerge.

There are usually three or four new species being found every year.

SARS-CoV-2, commonly known simply as the coronavirus or Covid19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. We need to remember that this virus is not the first and will not be the last.

All viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, change over time. So far hundreds of variations of this virus have been identified worldwide. WHO and partners have been following them closely since January 2020.

We must not get complacent about the roll out of a vaccine for this particular strain of coronavirus.

What happens next time, if we are not prepared?

Data-driven Hygiene Management.

As the saying goes you can’t manage what you can’t measure. Therefore, data-driven Hygiene Management is key in protecting us at work now and in the future to help get our economy moving again.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission of these types of viruses is through knowing who is sanitising and who is not, so that we can encourage good hygiene behaviour and ensure workplaces are the safest to carry out activity.

Building managers and facility managers are working hard provide safe and hygienic workplaces.  Good hygiene habits must be encouraged to continue to prevent the spread of viruses and the solution is data-driven hygiene management.

Now, more than ever, we must make sure that changes to our behaviour – including wearing face coverings, avoiding crowds, close contacts and closed environments, while practising good hygiene – sticks. Telegraph – by Peter Piot The director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

We might believe that it’s very comforting that the roll out of vaccines is happening very fast, we can almost see us start to see some sort of normality in our lives.  However, we need to note a vaccine isn’t a cure.  And experts are not even sure how effective these vaccines will be. The Government are saying that we still must continue with hand hygiene, and social distancing. They don’t even know the answer to the question, “Can covid19 still spread after vaccination?”  This is from the official .Gov website.

There is also the problem that which this report showed from Hospital HealthCare, a fifth of people across the world will refuse the COVID-19 vaccine.  This has very important implications of how successful the vaccination program will be.

Even Matt Hancock said “we still don’t know the effect of the vaccine on transmission” of the virus! Live on Sky News with Sophie Ridge on Sunday.

The only thing we can rely on is Data-driven Hygiene Management.  This data will support and back up the hygiene management in which we are implementing in public buildings.  We are extremely fortunate that we have the tech available to provide facility managers, building managers, health and safety managers, with the information and data such as who has sanitized their hands in our buildings and even to not let them in to our building if they have not sanitised their hands. Just as Supermarkets are not allowing people into shops if they are not wearing masks, these types of precautions need to become the norm to protect us now and in the future from any virus that might turn up looking for hosts.
